Dear Abraham,
Unfortunately, Delphi (still in bankrupcy) is not hiring at this point. As Ashok mentions below, the automotive industry is in trouble and they are cutting back as much as possible. What is your background? Perhaps I can be more helpful if you can tell me what interests you. Take care,
Aleli

Canada has legal requirement to register with the association of professional engineer before you can practice as Engineer. Since your education is outside Canada, you will need to get your B.Sc accredited by them, they may assign you to take few exams based on difference in education in UK from Canada.
Upon accreditation of your education , you will need 4 years work exp as engineer in training where a P. Eng will be supervising your work. This is easy part as most P.Eng are very supportive and they provide guidance as they are within same organization where your are working.

Since you are already outside India, there is no harm in applying for immigration to Canada. That exercise itself will take 2-4 years.

I do not know much about UK and status of economy there, Canada is much more stable due to proximity with USA. Canada has tremendous inventory of resources. The population is not graowing fast compared to aging population, therefore, there will be opportunities for young population whether from inside or outside.

If you have not chosen your specialisation, do evaluate new technologies like solar energy, wind power, electric cars, Bio-mechanics, etc. Next few decades are for new technologiers, it does not matter where you ends up.

Best of luck,

Ashok D

Hey George,

Canada was booming until about 3-4 months ago. However, as you may have heard, North America (like the rest of the world) is in a huge recessions right now. Alberta is probably one of the wealthiest/strongest provinces in Canada but even we are not totally robust against the downturn of the world economy. In the past 3 months, 25000+ have lost their jobs. Alberta has a lot of oil & gas engineering companies, process facilities, as well as hi-tech design and manufacturing. Our company has been resilient against the recession so far which can be eluded to the fact that we design and manufacture/sell "life safety" products and our markets are global.

At this time, we do not have any job openings. As Ashok indicated in his comment, Ontario is another large manufacturing based province as well as mining. However, their main markets was automotive and that industry is in an extreme recession. Good luck.

Canada is not much different from rest of the world. Industrialised Provinces like Ontario, ottawa, Alberta ,...are all having heavy job losses. However, provinces with agriulture as main source of income, have done better.
Major automotive companies like GM & Crysler are brink of bankruptsy and are laying off a large percentage of staff. Ford is a bit better than other two. I heard that Toyota and Honda are also laying off people. It was only last week that Crysler threatened to layoff all 9,000 Canadian employee.
Are you looking for new job in Canada ? Email be further details about you so that I can provide you more info about opportunities in Canada.

Bye for Now,

Ashok D
