Supplier Diversity now being added to the overall strategies of supply managment professionals. Is this part of the "new era" of supply chain management? Will there ever be a monetary value to add to supplier diversity incentives? Also, how do you p…

now I understand the question, thanks for clarifying. In my experience, its best to keep the two processes separate until the process is flushed out in the NPI area, then introduce it to the production area. However, you must use some of the same re…

Welcome to the forum...I find it hard to commit too much time here, but it is nice to chat and discuss areas of supply management with other professionals in all industries. Very fruitful discussions...:)

I should have clarified the focus of this question...the allocation of resources in operations, for instance, in a just in time manufacturing industry is it wiser to keep pushing off the start of production on a new product in order to commit resour…

I'm new to this forum and look forward to alot of healthy discussion. I will jump in here with my own question and then explain: "what do you mean by production is king exactly?" The reason I ask is, Nobody is King except the customer! No Customer,…

What is your opinion of the statement that "Production is King"? Would you say it is subjective according to the industry? Thoughts?

Job Market

I was recently employed with the manufacturer of robotic systems, material handling, lathe tending, welding, lazer cutting as a Supply Management Professional. Due to economical hardship the company was forced to downsize, therefore sending myself and other really intelligent, knowledgable individuals into the workforce. The only scary part of it is the manufacturing segment of the world doesn't seem to be the hot spot right now. I have only been in the supply chain profession for manufacturing… Continue

I found from your profile you are in the Davenport, Iowa region, therefore, I would contact the Deco Tool Supply company in that city.

Deco has 6 branches in the Iowa, Kansas, Nebraska and Minnesota plus a branch in Georgia.

Another distributor is Peerless Supply in Davenport and Des Moines.

Good Luck. Need more help, please contact

Not Good! My company is in dire straits right now; not just because of the economy, but that's not helping. We are only producing parts for two of our biggest customer's....and they are paying our bills, if that explains we are pretty much doomed. I have been with this company for 21 years and hate to see it go under. We have temporarily laid off about 65% of our work force until we get more money from our other customers. I am currently looking for a job; but even the recruiters are telling me it's a bad time.
